
Stari Grad is one of the oldest European towns and the oldest town on the island of Hvar. Its tempestuous history has left many traces on the ground of this town such as the city walls built by the Greek colonizers from the 4th century B.C., the early Christian church of St John and the fortified Tvrdalj castle dating back to the Renaissance period.
