Splitsko ljeto is Scenic arts festival of long tradition. During the time it changed and tailored to the modern era so today besides operas and dramas here are performed jazz concerts and exhibitions. During the summer months Split becomes a big stage as numerous performances are held on open, on squares like Peristil, Pjaca, Carrara Field or in Diocletian cellars, Gripe Fortress, Meštrović Gallery and Kaštelet. Besides organized performances, on Split streets are often performed spontaneous gatherings with singing, acting and dancing in which also inhabitants participate very often.
