Dalmatian village Živogošće

Živogošće consists of places Porat, Mala Duba and Blato, mutually connected by a few kilometre long white pebble beach crowned by a pine wood and tamarisk. Beside a beautiful nature, here can also be found old churches and monasteries like the monastery of St. Cross from 1616. Monastery was for many years a centre of the cultural life of inhabitants. Near the monastery there is a monument from the Roman period, well known Licinianus epigram from 474 B.C., engraved into the stone above the spring Pokrivenica, which celebrates exactly that spring of the drinking water that also today flows here.
