Water is a inestimable treasure of the island and there are different ways of finding it. There is an abundance of pjoveri (leaning roof), fountains and gustirne (water-wells) on the island but particularly attractive are bucali (pails). Ornamented by simple or rich decoration, of various forms and sizes, with family coat of arms or without it, they all have a common characteristic – cord and chain traces deeply engraved in the stone in remembrance on every pail used to bring the water to homes.
