The Bačvice are municipal bathing areas, a beach that has for several years carried the prestigious blue flag and which has been open to bathers 1919. The Bačvice are a natural phenomenon, a sandy beach in the heart of the city, which are well known for their ebb-tides and decades of balun, Split's rugby but also for the legendary picigin which is played throughout the year. Besides being a bathing place, the Bačvice are an attractive Split promenade as well as a centre of entertainment up into the early hours of the morning.
