A painter and chronicler of the village, island and of his people, Eugen Buktenica was born in 1914 in Grohote.
His paintings are impressive naïfs, and he is principally attracted by his subject matter and the story behind the domestic animal, houses, boat s and land workers…. His aim was to fix his homeland, the island and the village onto canvas.
