Water springs and the fertile soil of the Kaštela field have ensured ideal conditions for establishing a Bible Garden near to the church of Our Lady of Špiljane better-known as Our Lady of Stomorija, which was established in honour of Pope John Paul 2nd’s first visit to Croatia. For centuries the plane-trees, olives, figs, vine and herbs mentioned in Bible have been grown in the Bible Garden. Thanks to the work of nature lovers numerous other species such as the Judas tree, laurel, spices and flavoured herbs and others have also been planted.
